World Quantum Day (WQD) is an international event celebrated on April 14 every year. It aims at promoting the public understanding of quantum science and quantum technology around the world.[1][2][3]

History

World Quantum Day started on 14 April 2021 as a initiative by an international group of scientists.[4] The initiative was joined by engineers, educators, science communicators, organizations and others to celebrate the first World Quantum day on 14 April 2022.[5] April 14 was chosen because "4.14" represents the rounded first 3 digits of Planck’s constant: 4.14×10-15 eV·s.[1][6]

Events

The first World Quantum Day in 2022 included 200+ events in more than 40 countries across 5 continents.[4] The activities included talks, symposiums, panel dicussions, laboratory tours, artistic creations, interviews and others.[4][7][8]
