Anubis The Ride is a roller coaster in Plopsaland De Panne. The ride opened on April 5 2009 during the seasonal opening of Plopsaland De Panne.
The coaster
[edit]The coaster is built by Gerstlauer and costed € 6.000.000 to make. It accelerates in 2 seconds time from 0 to 90 km/h, which makes the ride last a total of 48 seconds. The launch is followed by a 34 meter tophat, then goes on to make 3 inversions; a dive loop, an Immelmann and a heartline roll. There are 3 trains, in which each 6 people can take place. The trains are built stairwise, so each rows feels like they're sitting in front.[1]
The station
[edit]The station of the ride is a replica of the real House of Anubis (Hof Ten Dorpe, Mortsel), at 2/3 of its original size. When the visitor enters, he needs to follow a few small corridors, until he reaches the statue of count Rohan De Beaufort. This is the same statue used in the movie Anubis en het Pad der 7 Zonden (Anubis and the Path of 7 Sins). In the small, dark corridors that follow, one can look through the wall at recreated pieces of decor from the series, under which the basement and secret corridor. Once arrived at the main room, where fences are placed to queue, big frames with pictures from the first Anubis-movie are hung on the wall. Then the stairs upstairs, where the visitor goes past the office of Victor, the janitor. There he can choose in which queue to stand; first, second, or third row in the train.[2]
