Hwang Yun-seong (Korean: 황윤성, born Hwang Dong-wook (Korean: 황동욱) on October 30, 2000),[1] known mononymously as Yunseong (Korean: 윤성), is a South Korean singer, dancer and a member of South Korean boy group Drippin under Woollim Entertainment. He is also known for being a former contestant on the 2019 South Korean reality survival show Produce X 101.
Early life
[edit]Hwang Yun-seong was born on October 30, 2000 in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Originally named Hwang Dong-wook, he changed his name to his current name when he was in 4th grade in elementary school.[1] He has two older siblings, an older brother and an older sister.
Career
[edit]Pre-debut
[edit]Yunseong was casted by Woollim Entertainment after he performed "Mic Drop" by BTS at his music academy. Although multiple agencies contacted him after his performance, he chose Woollim.
2019: Produce X 101
[edit]In 2019, Yunseong was introduced as a contestant on the reality survival show Produce X 101, a 2-year and 5-month trainee representing Woollim Entertainment. He finished in 18th place in the finale and was unfortunately eliminated, and did not make the cut to debut as a member of the produced group, X1.
2020: Drippin
[edit]On September 4, 2020, Woollim Entertainment announced that they would be debuting their new boy group in late October. Subsequently, it was confirmed that Yunseong would be one-seventh of the group's debut lineup, as their name was subsequently revealed to be Drippin.[2][3] They made their debut with the release of their first EP, Boyager, on October 28, 2020.
