Umro Ayyar - A New Beginning is a 2024 Pakistani superhero film written by Atif Siddique and directed by Azfar Jafri.[3] The film is based on the character of Umro Ayyar.[4][5] The film is produced by Huma Jamil Babar under the banner of VR Chili Production. The film stars Usman Mukhtar as the titular character with Faran Tahir, Sanam Saeed, Ali Kazmi, Hamza Ali Abbasi and others.[6][7]
In the film, Amar, a professor at a local college discovers powers beyond his own control and must confront an imminent threat posed by the Laqqa clan who seek to unleash a powerful demon during an upcoming lunar eclipse.[8] The film was released in Lahore on 13 June, [9] and was released on 17 June 2024 in Pakistan.[10]

As the legend unfolds, the imminent threat posed by the Laqqa clan looms large. These adversaries seek to unleash a powerful demon during an upcoming lunar eclipse, threatening to plunge the world into chaos. Amar who is unknowingly Umro Ayyar, is armed with newfound abilities, becoming humanity's last hope against this malevolent force.[11][12]

Production[edit]
On November 17, 2021, the production company VR Chili Production announced this by uploading the official title reveal video to their YouTube channel.[15] Azfar Jafri found a talented VFX team in Islamabad and hired well-known Pakistani actors.[16] Basically, the idea of the film was to produce a fantasy film based on a local classical novel Hamzanama's character, Umro Ayyar.[17] Team represented the film at WonderCon by launching their trailer in March 2024.[18] The production of the film completed at the start of 2024.[19]
Marketing[edit]
The official title reveal video of the film was uploaded to VR Chilli Production's YouTube channel on 17 November 17 2021, marking the casting and announcement of the film.[20] The concept for the movie was to create a fantasy movie based on the legend Umro Ayyar from classic novel Hamzanama.[21] The production business completed the VFX and established a VFX facility that is still operational in Islamabad.[22] In March 2024, the movie's trailer debuted at WonderCon.[23]

An Express Tribune based reviewer praised the attempt to explore the sci-fi genre, performances of Usman Mukhtar, Sanam Saeed, Sana Fakhar, Faran Tahir and Ali Kazmi, VFX, the film's script.[26]
