Deutsch: Tagsüber sitzen die Falter an Bäumen, haben die Vorderflügel über die Hinterflügel gelegt und sind von der Rinde kaum zu unterscheiden. Werden sie doch einmal von einem Fressfeind entdeckt und mit einem Schnabelhieb traktiert, klappen sie reflexartig die Flügel auseinander. Der Angreifer ist nun plötzlich mit einem Gesicht konfrontiert; er blickt scheinbar einem Tier, das mindestens Eulengröße hat (der Körper des Falters kann zudem leicht mit dem krummen Schnabel einer Eule verwechselt werden), direkt in die Augen. Es lässt sich leicht vorstellen, was beispielsweise eine Amsel da für einen Schreck bekommt…
