DescriptionFree Our Future. Families Belong Together. Abolish ICE. March and Day of Action (42404687714).jpg
Minneapolis, Minnesota
June 30, 2018
About 10,000 people gathered downtown and marched through the streets to protest against immigrant children being taken from their families. The protesters called for ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to be abolished. On April 6, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Donald Trump's new "zero-tolerance policy" and began to prosecute all border crossings, a misdemeanor offense, regardless of whether they cross alone or with their children. The immediate effect, because children are not prosecuted with their parents, was thousands of immigrant children separated from their parents. The children are being held in detention centers and foster homes around the country. Some parents have already been deported, but their children remain in the USA.
