Description
English: André-Jean-Jacques Deshayes as Achilles and James Harvey d'Egville as Mentor in a scene from the ballet-pantomime Achille et Diedamie from a painting by Antoine Cardon. Deshayes is wearing a Greek tunic, not female costume as stated on the source website as well as elsewhere. This is one of the earliest depictions in art of a ballet lift.
