Image title | Foster's Bighorn Bar and Restaurant in Rio Vista, California, west of Lodi, displays one of the most extensive collections of animal "trophy heads" in America. Bill Foster, who opened the bar in 1931, was a big-game hunter who stalked game all over the world. The trophy specimens include the stuffed remains of 300 wild animals, birds, and fish, including such unlikely game as a giraffe, a water buffalo, even the head of a full-grown African elephant, whose head looms above patrons in the dining room. The walls are also lined with photos of Foster on safari, posing with his fallen prey. |
