English: The temple was constructed during the rule of King Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar of the Kingdom of Mysore during his reign from 1673-1704 A.D apparently in response to the taunts of the Maratha prince of Tanjore. The temple is near Gundlupet town in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka state, India.
