Summary

Description
English: The Staines and West Drayton Railway was completed in 1885 and a halt was opened here in 1887 as Runnymede Range station to serve the nearby extensive rifle range to the west. It was renamed Yeoveney Halt railway station in 1935, but passenger traffic must have been sparse at best and the halt closed in 1962, three years before the line itself. Contrary to popular belief the site of the station was not lost under the M25 Motorway and its site is confirmed by the existence of many of the platform supporting concrete pillars scattered in the scrub to the west of the line, to the right in the photo here. The site of the Runnymede rifle range and Yeoveney Farm have been lost under the Wraysbury Reservoir. Also contrary to popular belief the currently planned route of the proposed new AirTrack railway link from London Heathrow to Staines would not use the wooded green corridor trackbed of the old railway.
