Mods vs ROM hacks

[edit]

Mods and ROM hacks are the same thing in my eyes. Why and how these are split doesn't make sense to me. Why is Metal Sonic Hyperdrive a mod while The S Factor is a ROM hack? TarkusABtalk 15:44, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're right -- I got a bit messy when making this. Merged 'em. JOEBRO64 20:26, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic Robo Blast 2

[edit]

I'm curious as to why Sonic Robo Blast 2, a game which has been in development for almost 20 years now (and is still actively being worked on to this day!) only gets as much as a mention on this page, yet Sonic Dreams Collection gets its own page? 71.9.41.210 (talk) 18:19, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on the coverage in reliable sources. Robo Blast 2 unfortunately hasn't received as much coverage as Sonic Dreams Collection. JOEBRO64 18:23, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

Hello! (I'm very new to Wikipedia editing, sorry if I make any mistakes) I was going through the listed items and noticed that many fan creations (specifically rom hacks) are not mentioned. I noticed it when I couldn't find Sonic Project Hero anywhere on the page. I'd think that many projects could be pulled from sources such as Sonic Retro, SAGE, and the Sonic Hacking Contest, but many have not. Is there a reason why many of these games haven't been added or has simply no one added them yet? Wintertree Studios (talk) 20:04, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

They need to have a reliable source to be added, because Wikipedia is not for things made up one day. Those are not reliable sources. ❤︎PrincessPandaWiki (talk | contribs) 00:17, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Should Sonic Gather Battle Be Included?

[edit]

This is a question on whether the fan game Sonic Gather Battle should be included; for those who don't know, the game became infamous since it included some digital rights management that would upload your computer's IP address onto the developer's computer if the game is attempted to be hacked (or if the game's name alongside 'hack', 'mod' or 'cheat' is searched into a browser, while also causing the game's anti-hacking system to kick-in). News report by International Business Times - AlexField290 (talk) 10:39, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(A really late answer; I was about to answer this much earlier, but discarded it because I didn't think it was good.) According to WP:IBTIMES, International Business Times is an unreliable source. Other sources I could find for this fangame are Heavy.com ([1]) and Goomba Stomp ([2]), which don't appear to be highly reputable for claims about how shady this game is in the realm of computer security. Thus, Sonic Gather Battle should not be included in the list unless a highly reliable source is published about it. ❤︎PrincessPandaWiki (talk | contribs) 19:42, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer. Shadowboxer2005 (talk) 02:23, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Where's SRB2-XMAS 0.90/92/94/96 source codes?

Alphabetize the list?

[edit]

As of now it isn't organized by any particular category. New additions are simply placed below the preceding ones, and it makes the article look sort of haphazard, at least to me. Any thoughts on this potential change? LBWP (talk) 04:35, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I feel like it used to be this way in the past before people just kept adding entries without regard to it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 05:57, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sonic fansites

[edit]

Leaving a note here, since I'm not sure the edit warring IP is checking their talk page: Sonic fansites are generally not seen as reliable/usable sources on Wikipedia. Even Sonic Retro. Don't get me wrong, they're an incredible resource for reading as a fan. I love them. But they're not a usable source on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 19:03, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 15:50, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sonichu Belongs Here

[edit]

Wikipedia's antiquated policy on just about anything the creator has touched is absurd. Just because I can't create an article about the author doesn't mean it shouldn't belong there. That comic is more notorious than almost anything else on this page, and I mentioned as little of the author as possible while explaining. It is not 2009 anymore. Many large websites have reported on it. Admin said "go get consensus", well here I am. Patriot of Canuckistan (talk) 03:38, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is a much more recent consensus than 2009. Pursuing this matter is not likely to end well. OhNoitsJamie Talk 12:03, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The sourcing you provided certainly doesn't back the assertion of being "more notorious than anything on the list". Sergecross73 msg me 12:49, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia: Where nothing is real until the New York Times or CNN decide to cover it.
Not like several YouTube videos going in depth about the author's life and creations have millions of views. Nope, mainstream media doesn't like it so it's not real. And if you do have sources, we'll just say they're not good. *angry NPC noises* Patriot of Canuckistan (talk) 16:54, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, I guess, because no, YouTube videos aren't really a valid means of showing importance. (There's a YouTube video for pretty much anything.) I'm also very confused as to why you're seemingly so irate at the very beginning of a pretty mundane content dispute...? Sergecross73 msg me 21:35, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
