Move, merge or switch

Mirapakaay → Mirapakaya — Correct title BOVINEBOY2008 10:44, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mnost of the edit history is at Mirapakaya. The 08:40, 7 January 2011 edit of Mirapakaay and the 08:40, 7 January 2011 edit of Mirapakaya seem to be identical. History-merge is not suitable here because of WP:Parallel histories. The film's quoted Telugu language name మిరపకాయ్ transcribes as "mirapakāy", not "mirapakāya" or similar. I am tempted to merely copy-and-paste the 10:46, 8 January 2011 (= currently last) edit of Mirapakaay onto Mirapakaya, or to move Mirapakaya to Mirapakaay. I think I actually disagree with my own request. The official website refers to it as Mirapakaay, even though there are some third-party sites referring to it as Mirapakaya, a la oneindia.in and nowrunning.com. I'm not sure, but it seems this is the "official" title, although this is always difficult with transliterations. BOVINEBOY2008 09:36, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So, how to most neatly close this without wasting time? Either spelling seems equally acceptable. Maybe just leave the messy edit history as is, noting that both histories are now possibly significant, and any cleanup will likely make things worse remembering that their most important function is to satisfy our copyleft obligations. If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
