it's a travesty this only has traditional/tribal African perspectives

I'm 100% sure there's tons of sexual rites of passage around the world, including in the US & other countries. It's a major cultural thing too. I guess I'll look for actual sources another day cause it's 4 AM here apparently. Unburnable (talk) 09:02, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple issues

I tagged the page because there are a lot of issues with the page's structure, scope, and cited sources. Many examples appear to come from a source about practices in Malawi but--although they are detailed and even include local terminology--arent presented as specific to Malawi. Whole series of countries and cultures are lumped onto ends of paragraphs and sections without any further citation or justification. I'll check the history, but it appears as though someone thought to address the other tag re: the Africa bias by simply tacking non African countries willy-nilly.

In one fell swoop, Edo Japan and ancient Greece, et al, are listed as examples of cultures with "boy insemination rites." No further citation. And so on.

I can try to clean up some of the copy for clarity, but I don't have sources on hand to supplement lacking citation. Billygoehring (talk) 04:36, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, regarding the claim about Japan and Greece. I see in the cited source that these (and others) are mentioned in this context, but I'd rather find a more relevant and authoritative source. I'll keep looking. But that's beside the point; I only meant it as an example of how this page's scope is ambiguous and how it either needs more sources or needs to tighten up its references (Malawi?
