Wouldn't this be better off in wiktionary? I don't think it would ever really be more than a definition. ARendedWinter 19:04, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This could easily become an article. There have been articles in Sing Out! and elsewhere with suggestions on how to organize and conduct such an event. And there is this:
  • Ratliff, Ben. "Shared Song, Communal Memory" (New York Times web article). Retrieved 2008-02-10.

Subgenres

[edit]

Seems to me there ought to be mention here of the hootenanny, the hymn-sing, and the (Fasola) shapenote singing. Don't have time to add and source it right now, but maybe I'll return to it someday. Pending that, have at it, and remember not to do original research to get there. --Haruo (talk) 16:33, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Sing-along is more than a definition, it's the glue that temporarily binds many people into a fleeting society, and is prevalent worldwide. It's maybe more important than many people think. I have seen a decline over the years now that internet is here with so many people becoming seclusive with mobile phones and social networking, but very few people can resist a good knees up even if it is only transitionary. Wish I had the time, wits and intelligence to further this discussion. TeeSee1962 (talk) 02:18, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gawd! This article needs work!

But I gave up editing the Wikipedia about a decade ago, so it won't be me. ;)
