Please help to prune

This article appears to have swelled into a list of Montreal trivia and kruft, where every organization-founding and Montreal related factoid is granted historical significance. Recentism and crystal balling (in the 2010s section, which I removed) is a particular problem. Please help to prune. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 01:52, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One deletion I'm not sure about is some of the media and arts festival foundings, but this sort of thing is pretty subjective. What represents a truly lasting significance and what is just laundry listing? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 02:11, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Company Foundations

Do we really need to list the foundation dates of companies that merely happen to be based in Montreal? I can't really see the point of this information. What do other people think? RomanSpa (talk) 04:52, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
