Template:Infobox clergy and Template:Infobox religious biography are redundant with each other, since they serve the same purpose (technical clergy would be a subset of religious biography). The latter has probably more parameters than it needs, the former probably too few. The latter needs conversion to infobox person which the latter provides, while the latter needs more parameter documentation which the former has. — SMcCandlish☏¢ 😼 07:17, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support - Though nothing is currently tagged for merging. I'm trying to figure out which one to use in article, and it makes sense to combine/merge them. - BilCat (talk) 23:07, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also support this merge, though I'm mostly curious why, four years later, they haven't been merged. I don't imagine we need a formal merge discussion. Jonesey95 or Paine Ellsworth, would you mind weighing in (or simply merging)? — HTGS (talk)02:10, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
See the 2017 TFD exploring the above suggestion (result: do not merge) and the 2020 TFD exploring a merge with {{Infobox Christian leader}} (result: no consensus). This template has 1,170 transclusions. Christian leader has 16,287 transclusions. Religious biography has 4,589 transclusions. AFAICT, the primary objection is that the templates were too different for a merge to be feasible. In order for a merge to be successful, someone needs to modify the sandbox of at least one of these templates to show that it could work for a variety of articles in which each of these templates is used. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:00, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could the partner parameter ({{{home_town|}}}) be added for cases where the subject has a long-term (or otherwise particularly significant) partner to whom the subject was not married? Thanks, 142.160.89.97 (talk) 04:00, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could a "Laicized" parameter be added immediately underneath the "Ordained" parameter, along with an option to use the spelling "Laicised" (as is done with the "Organization"/"Organisation" parameters in {{Infobox person}})?
For those unfamiliar, laicization is where a church returns a member of the clergy to the lay state (cf. clerical state) and forbids them from exercising ordained ministry. For subjects who have been laicized, the date of laicization is probably just as important as the date of ordination. Without such a parameter, the infobox is rather misleading in the cases of laicized subjects as one could be led to believe that a subject continued (or continues, in the case of a living subject) to exercise ordained ministry given that, in most Christian traditions, ordained ministry is regarded as a lifelong affair.
I would have supplied the necessary code, but it appears the template does not have a sandbox. That being said, it shouldn't be difficult to use the code for the "Organization"/"Organisation" parameters in {{Infobox person}}mutatis mutandis. cc: Jonesey95142.160.89.97 (talk) 06:31, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now: I've created the sandbox. Please feel free to reactivate the request when you're done tinkering. Izno (talk) 20:45, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I know it was probably straightforward--I just wanted to ease future work for unregistered users like yourself. --Izno (talk) 14:26, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I may be mistaken, but there appears to be something going on with the first line of the source that is causing certain pages (e.g. Girolamo Savonarola) to display the text "Ecclesiastical career" at the very beginning. Being unversed in all things template-wise, I was wondering if there might be some way to amend this? GalacticShoe (talk) 01:33, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
