Hospitalized for Wikistress!!!!!
I am suffering from wikiburnout and chronic Wikistress.

And real life is very much in the way these days.
I probably won't be able to log in as frequently and contribute as much as I would like. Messages left here probably won't get a quick response as before. Your patience would be very much appreciated.

Take care, everyone.
Happy editing.

September music[edit]

September songs

Thank you for your work ITN, today Lars Vogt, with chamber music pictured. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:26, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome, Gerda. Nice pics. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 15:58, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! The rose pic was taken on 11 Sep 2021, and this year was full of music that day, Tag des offenen Denkmals, not only singing in church and rehearsals for Verdi's Requiem, but two concerts at special places pictured, one a synagogue (pictured on its wall). Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto, and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. Almost too much of a good thing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:33, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Today, we sang old music for two choirs at church, pictured, scroll to the image of the organ of the month of the Diocese of Limburg (my perspective), and if you have time, watch the video about it --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:20, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
... and today I wrote an article about music premiered today, Like as the hart. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:01, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ITN RD[edit]

Hello, hope you don't mind me asking as you seem like an old ITN hand. Is this archiving the end for Wong Phui Nam and Mark Souder? I'm new to the process, so I don't know if they're meant to go up or if it's up to admin discretion or if there's a random lottery. A bit biased perhaps but I thought Wong Phui Nam would be a nice addition for a bit of diversity given the current RDs are all but one Americans. Best, CMD (talk) 03:08, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CMD. Thank you for letting me know about this. The Wong Phui Nam article received a Support vote within the 7-day time limit with no objections from anyone, and IMO should have been promoted to MainPage. I guess no admins are around to take care of this. I'll handle this entry myself soon. The next time you see good noms not getting processed and disappearing into the archive, please be encouraged to post a note at Wikipedia talk:In the news. Thank you. --PFHLai (talk) 05:40, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:25, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Al Strobel[edit]

Hi there. No one is voting on this nomination either way in ITN. Article looks good/no tags. I think it should be posted. But what happens if no one votes for it before the expiry time? SitcomyFan (talk) 10:25, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, SitcomyFan. If there is no support at all, the nom may scroll off ITN/C at the end of the 7 days and into the archive where it rests in peace. You can appeal to admins and other editors on Talk:ITN, if you like. This wikibio currently has less than 300 words of prose. Is there anything else to write about him? --PFHLai (talk) 12:20, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the response - and good to see it was posted! I'm working on another couple of articles, Quentin Oliver Lee and Jharana Das. I only noticed these. Is the cut-off time from the date itself, date it was reported, or date it was nominated? These were both only just nominated (maybe I shouldn't have listed them far back on the date itself?) and just wondering if there is time to continue working on them. The first one is almost there, I think, but haven't had a chance to work on the other one yet. If you could let me know the cut-off on them, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again for all your help. SitcomyFan (talk) 08:16, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for working on these wikibios and providing materials for use on RD. Both noms appear to be listed in the correct sections on ITN/C. It's the date of death or date of first report on the death if the report came later. The wikipage needs to be ready within a week after that. For Das (d. Dec. 2nd), today (Dec. 9th, UTC) is the final day of eligibility. If you want to expand it for RD, please do so ASAP. There is less than 12 hours left. --PFHLai (talk) 12:12, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for the response. Regarding Jharana Das, I've added some more info and sources to the article. If you have time to take a look, let me know if you feel it is ready/almost ready, how much more work it might need. I don't feel sufficiently qualified to add filmography tables and I think I've added quite a lot to her Career section - most of the information contained in English sources. There's probably more info out there in Indian. I feel it is sufficient now for ITN? Not sure if you agree. SitcomyFan (talk) 13:53, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's not the greatest, but it's good enough. It's on MainPage now. Cheers! -- PFHLai (talk) 05:10, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have to admit I'm confused by your edits to this page. I removed Victoria Lee because, well, it's really stale compared to all the other folks who died in January. Feel free to fix, but right now how we do RD, she isn't in the list. - Fuzheado | Talk 17:50, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's not date of death, but date of news of the death. --PFHLai (talk) 17:54, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It still doesn't seem like it's the right order. Please fix. Thanks. - Fuzheado | Talk 17:57, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's the order of posting by admins. --PFHLai (talk) 17:58, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
RE: "This list seems really messed up chronologically" -- It is indeed very messed up if there is any expectation of a chronological order. It's not. Some noms are ready for RD within a day of the death. Some deaths take a long time to become public and even more time for the wikibio to qualify for RD. Don't worry about the dates, Fuzheado. --PFHLai (talk) 18:06, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

August songs
my story today

Today, my focus is on Renata Scotto, after days of updating. Thank you for helping her to the Main page! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:44, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, Gerda. Glad that I could help. Thank you for getting materials ready for use on MainPage. Happy editing! Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 00:00, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I try. - Today is Debussy's birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:22, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please check Gloria Coates, last day ITNN? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:41, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks READY for RD, but without any SUPPORT !votes, it has to wait. --PFHLai (talk) 20:59, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for exception-making. I was preoccupied with Berit Lindholm. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:23, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, Gerda. Glad that I could help. It wasn't much of an exception to make. The wikibio was ready for RD while it was still eligible for posting. Thank you for producing more and more good stuffs for use on MainPage. Happy editing. Cheers! -- PFHLai (talk) 14:12, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't seen one posted after it was already archived. - This too shall pass. - Ten years ago on 28 August, I heard a symphony, with a heavy heart because of the pending decision in WP:ARBINFOBOX, and not worried about my future here but Andy's. - It passed, and I could write the DYK about calling to dance, not battle, and Andy could write the DYK mentioning about peace and reconciliation, - look. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to come with another late job, Walter Arlen, last day for RD. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:37, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Gerda, I have to go offline. I can come back and look at this again tomorrow. Don't worry too much about the deadline. BTW, anything useful at Daniel Vnukowski#Music of Exiled Composers and the discography there? Hope this helps. --PFHLai (talk) 18:55, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'll use it - thank you. But I have little time today, onn my way to see Parsifal for the first time. See my story. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:02, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. Arlen is on MainPage now. Thank you for expanding his wikibio for use on MainPage. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 21:29, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – September 2023[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, TFAs will be automatically semi-protected the day before it is on the main page and through the day after.
  • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. But oversight could well be right where there's a particularly high risk to the person. Use your judgment.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The SmallCat dispute case has closed. As part of the final decision, editors participating in XfD have been reminded to be careful about forming local consensus which may or may not reflect the broader community consensus. Regular closers of XfD forums were also encouraged to note when broader community discussion, or changes to policies and guidelines, would be helpful.

Miscellaneous

  • Tech tip: The "Browse history interactively" banner shown at the top of Special:Diff can be used to easily look through a history, assemble composite diffs, or find out what archive something wound up in.

September music[edit]

September songs
my story today

Thank you for all your help with those who recently died. - Today's story (as you will know) is about a great pianist with an unusual career, taking off when he was 50. It's the wedding anniversary of Clara and Robert Schumann, but I was too late with our gift. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:55, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I hope your DYK can make it to MainPage for Clara's birthday. Good luck! Cheers! :-) --PFHLai (talk) 22:33, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It didn't but probably my fault. - Today I remember Raymond Arritt, who still helps me, five years after he died, per what he said in my darkest time on Wikipedia (placed in my edit-notice as a reminder), and by teh rulez. - Latest pics from a weekend in Berlin (one more day to come). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:58, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Next year is still good. Hardly your fault. --PFHLai (talk) 06:35, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If I wanted it this year I should have pushed editors and reviewers sooner and more, but I was preoccupied with a load of RD in a row. For next year, I'd have to bring it to GA status, and - without help in sight - better pass ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:55, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No rush. Feel free to contribute at whatever pace you like. Happy editing! Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 02:20, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On ITNN, last day, Felix Ayo is marked ready, and no admin seems around. Sorry to bother you again, - midnight here. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:03, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November music[edit]

November songs
my story today

Vacation pictures offered if you click on songs, and my story today is a DYK hook from 13 years ago OTD: about the great music at one of my churches. Mozart's Requiem to come on Sunday, coupled with Arvo Pärt's Da pacem Domine, - I guess you might come if it was a bit closer. Perhaps watch the video of our last production, our first on yt, ever. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:25, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

February music[edit]

story · music · places

Thank you for helping ITN! - The image, taken on a cemetery last year after the funeral of a distant but dear family member, commemorates today, with thanks for their achievements, four subjects mentioned on the Main page and Vami_IV, a friend here. Listen to music by Tchaikovsky (an article where one of the four is pictured), sung by today's subject (whose performance on stage I enjoyed two days ago). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:27, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
