Pedro José Pagés (born September 17, 1998) is a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2024.

College career[edit]

Pagés played college baseball at Florida Atlantic University. In 2018, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star.[1]

Professional career[edit]

Pagés was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB draft.[2] On November 14, 2023, the Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.[3] He began the 2024 season, with the Triple–A Memphis Redbirds.[4] On April 4, 2024 Matt Carpenter was placed on the 10 day injured list resulting in Pages being promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[5] He made his MLB debut on April 7 as a pinch hitter.[6] On April 11, 2024, Pages was sent down but just 10 days later pages was called back up. This was a corresponding move as Victor Scott II was optioned to AAA. On April 30, 2024, Pagés hit a sacrifice fly for his for RBI in MLB.[7]

His first hit came on May 14, 2024, in a key at-bat with the bases full in the third inning against the Angels at Angel Stadium, he hit a double that drove in all three runners, in a 7-6 win.[8]
