The Highlanders finished the 2022–23 season 21–15, 12–6 in Big South play, to finish in a tie for second place.[1] As the #3 seed in the Big South tournament, they defeated #6 seed Winthrop in the quarterfinals,[2] before being upset by #7 seed Campbell in the semifinals.[3] They received an invitation to the CBI, where they defeated Tarleton State[4] and San Jose State,[5] before losing to Charlotte in the semifinals.[6]
