Alhed Lübbers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alhed Lübbers or Alhel Lübbers (lived 17th century) was the wife of the Governor of Danish India, Willem Leyel.[1] Not much is known about Lübbers, except that she, a Dutch widow, married Captain Willem Leyel during his service in Batavia (c. 1623–1626). Together, Lübbers and Leyel brought a daughter named Christina with her into the family and also had at least two sons, Hans and Anders Leyel.[2]

In 1647, Lübbers is mentioned as alive at Elsinore (Helsingør) in a letter from Hans Leyel to his father, Willem Leyel.[3] However, Lübbers was demoralized from wasting her money on alcohol and tobacco, and she lived at the local carpenter's house, who probably was the husband of Willem Leyel's sister Dorete.[3]
