Balutola is a village situated in the south corner of Saharsa district in the north Indian state of Bihar.The ancient temple of Baba Raghuni Maharaj is situated in this village.
Balutola is part of Simri Bakhtiyarpur Block and khagaria constituency. Some of the neighbouring places include Saharsa (15 km north), Simri, Bhoraha (2 km east), Simri Bakhtiyarpur (4 km south) and Balhampur(3 km West). Balutola is come under Raipura Panchayat.[3]

History

According to local tradition, the village is historically significant due to its association with Baba Raghuni Maharaj, a revered saint who is believed to have visited the area long ago.
It is said that Baba Raghuni Maharaj frequently came to Balutola to graze his cows. The village, with its lush surroundings and quiet charm, provided the perfect setting for the saint to tend to his cattle. Over time, Baba Raghuni Maharaj’s visits became a part of the village's spiritual life, and he grew increasingly connected with the area and its people.
The most significant event that ties Baba Raghuni Maharaj to Balutola occurred when he passed away in the village. Legend has it that after his death, his body was being transported from Balutola to his native village. During the journey, at the very spot where his body was laid for rest, a banyan tree mysteriously sprouted from the ground. This tree was seen as a divine sign and became a symbol of Baba Raghuni Maharaj's presence in the village.
In honor of Baba Raghuni Maharaj and his profound connection to Balutola, a memorial was established at the site, known as Baba Raghuni Sthan.
