Category:Non-international England cricketers
The purpose of this category is to hold names of first-class cricketers who represented teams called England, All-England, The Rest, etc. which were not taking part in international matches and would typically play against Marylebone Cricket Club or a leading county team. These teams were common in the 18th and 19th centuries until Test cricket began in 1877 and, apart from Test trials, had faded away by the beginning of the 20th century. The article Non-international England cricket teams provides more information.
Please take care not to confuse this type of England team, which was strictly ad hoc, with these more formal institutions:
- Category:England Test cricketers
- Category:All-England Eleven cricketers
- Category:United All-England Eleven cricketers
- Category:United North of England Eleven cricketers
- Category:United South of England Eleven cricketers
