Category:Regional municipalities in Nova Scotia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The regional municipalities of Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia originally had three incorporated cities: Halifax, Dartmouth, and Sydney.

In 1995 and 1996, all three cities were dissolved and amalgamated into regional municipalities. Nova Scotia no longer maintains cities as first-tier municipalities, however it has designated the former cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, the two largest by population, as "Metropolitan Areas" within their respective regional municipality. Sydney, being somewhat smaller in population, is referred to as an "Urban Community."
