Constantin CÎŞLARI (* May 16, 1998, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova) is a German track and field athlete. At the end of 2024, Constantin Preis changed his name back to his birth name, Cislari (Constantin CÎŞLARI).

He specializes in 400m hurdles but also competes in the 400 meters and the 4x400-meter relay. His greatest achievements in the 400-meter hurdles include reaching the semifinals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the 400-meter hurdles, and winning the German national titles in 2019, 2020, and 2021. His personal best in the 400-meter hurdles is 48.45 seconds, set in 2023 at the German Championships in Kassel, Germany.

Born in Moldova, Constantin moved to Germany at the age of 11.[1]

Athletic Career

In 2011, Constantin moved to Germany with his family from the Republic of Moldova and began his athletics career in Germany. [1][2] As part of his introductory class, the Bundesjugendspiele (Youth Sports Games) were on the schedule. When his talent became evident there, he joined TV Pforzheim 1834. [1]

In 2015, he ranked third in the DLV U18 annual leaderboard for the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.21 seconds.

In 2016, a ligament tear completely sidelined him, and Constantin considered ending his athletic career. [1]

In 2017, he became German U20 indoor champion in the 400 meters and German U20 champion in the 400-meter hurdles. Internationally, he placed 10th in the hurdles at the U20 European Championships.

In 2018, Constantin won the title at the German U23 Championships in the 400-meter hurdles and was runner-up among seniors in both the long hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay.

In 2019, he defended his title at the German Junior Championships and became German Champion among seniors. With the relay team, he earned the German runner-up title. Earlier, he had finished 4th at the U23 European Championships. In the fall, he did not advance beyond the preliminary round at the World Championships.

In 2020, Constantin became the German Champion in the 400-meter hurdles.

In 2021, he defended his title as German Champion in the 400-meter hurdles and placed 17th in the 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

In 2022, he reached the semifinals in the 400-meter hurdles at the European Championships in Munich.

In 2023, he became the German runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles and participated in the World Championships in Budapest.

In 2024, he reached the semifinals in the 400-meter hurdles at the European Championships in Rome and competed at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Constantin was part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) until the end of 2024.
