Dolní Bojanovice (German: Unter Bojanowitz) is a municipality and village in Hodonín District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Dolní Bojanovice is located about 6 kilometres (4 mi) west of Hodonín and 47 km (29 mi) southeast of Brno. It lies on the border between the Kyjov Hills and Lower Morava Valley. The highest point is at 278 m (912 ft) above sea level. The Prušánka stream flows through the municipality.

History

The first written mention of Dolní Bojanovice is from 1196. The most notable owners of the village were the Lords of Kunštát.[2]

Economy

Dolní Bojanovice is known for viticulture and wine-making. The municipality lies in the Slovácká wine sub-region.

There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.

Sights

The main landmark of Dolní Bojanovice is the Church of Saint Wenceslaus. It was built in the Baroque style in 1734.[5]
