A leadership election was held in the Liberal Democratic Party on 20 September 2003.
Overview[edit]
The leadership election was held with the expiration of President Junichiro Koizumi's term.The term of office was extended from two years to three years from the president elected in this election.The votes held by each prefectural chapter were distributed from three to eleven according to the number of party members.[1]
