Bruce Soord is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer, known for being the founder and frontman of the progressive rock band the Pineapple Thief. The project, initially named Pineapple Thief, after a dialogue in the movie Eve's Bayou, began as an outlet for Soord's music in 1999.[2] Its debut album, Abducting the Unicorn, was released by Cyclops Records in 1999 and followed in 2002 by 137. After issuing a third album under the moniker, titled Variations on a Dream, Soord formed a band and added "The" to its name, to differentiate its initials PT from Porcupine Tree, another English progressive rock band.[2] As of June 2024, the group have released 16 studio albums, 6 EPs, and several live and compilation albums.

In 2013, Soord released an album with Swedish musician Jonas Renkse, titled Wisdom of Crowds. In 2015, he issued his first solo, self-titled record. This was followed by All This Will Be Yours in 2019 and Luminescence in 2023.
