From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Enventure Global Technology, Inc. is a Houston based oilfield services provider in the energy industry. The company introduced SET technology[1] to address drilling, completion, and production challenges that jeopardized a well's potential value and the oil and gas operator's return on investment.

History[edit]

1990s[edit]

In the early 1990s, Royal Dutch Shell investigated the prospect of expanding solid oilfield tubulars downhole.[2] The original concept test, performed in The Hague, Netherlands, welded steel pipe[3] together at the joints, and successfully expanded the pipe 24% greater than its original diameter.

At the end of 1997, Shell Technology Ventures, Inc.,[4] and Halliburton Energy Services began exploring the possibility of forming a new limited liability company to initially focus on the development and commercialization of Solid Expandable Tubular[5] (SET) Technology. The new company would be funded and managed equally by the two partners.[6]

Proof-of-concept tests continued throughout 1998 at Halliburton Houston Technology Center[7] and other test sites. The feasibility of expanding oil country tubular goods[8] was successfully demonstrated in these tests.

Enventure Global Technology, Inc., headquartered in Houston, Texas, was founded on December 9th, 1998, by a certificate of formation filed in Delaware,[9] as a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell.[6] The name "Enventure" was created as a combination of the 'En' in Halliburton (En)ergy Services and the 'venture' in Shell Technology Ventures, Inc.[10]

Technological development continued throughout early 1999, and on November 25, 1999, Enventure installed the first solid expandable open hole liner (OHL system) in West Cameron 17 field, just outside of Louisiana state waters in the Gulf of Mexico. This would make SET systems a commercial reality.[11]

2000s[edit]

Throughout the 2000s, Enventure expanded its product range and geographic presence. The technology was applied in various environments, including deep water offshore wells and onshore projects. Continuous research and development efforts led to improvements in the performance and reliability of SET technology.[12]

In 2002, the company achieved its first horizontal installation in Oman, and also achieved its first window exit installation[13] in South Texas. These two advancements furthered the feasibility and flexibility of using SET systems to address wellbore challenges.

In 2004, the company achieved its first well slimming application installation[14] in Saudi Arabia, and the following year in 2005 the company achieved its expendable/intelligent completion installation.[15]

In 2009, the company installed its first Eseal Refrac Installation Liner[16] in the Barnett Shale.

2010s[edit]

By 2010, the company had already installed 1,000,000 feet of Solid Expandable Tubulars in over 1,000 installation projects.[6]

In the 2010s, Enventure introduced advancements for high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) applications[17] and enhanced completion systems. These developments enabled the company to address more complex wellbore conditions.[18]

In 2014, the company introduced its rotational ESET[19] product globally.

In 2016, the company did its first SameDrift™[20] field trial in the middle east.

In 2018, the Eseal Refrac Liner[21] was commercialized, and the company completed its 2000th SET installation in Saudi Arabia.

2020s[edit]

In 2023, the company commercialized its SET Expandable Liner Hanger,[22] and began wellbore cleanout services.[23]

As of today, Enventure continues to serve a global client base, focusing on the development and application of expandable tubular solutions in various wellbore conditions.
