Draft:Gohar Vardanyan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, WP:NMUSICIAN) but presently it is not clear that it does.
As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’.
Additionally, the draft tends to read too much like a CV, which Wikipedia is not.
Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link).
Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject.
It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:NMUSICIAN criteria #3, because XXXXX").
You may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 21:23, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Gohar Vardanyan is a classical guitarist known for teaching and performance.[1]

Biography

[edit]

Gohar Vardanyan began studying the guitar in her native Armenia at age 5 under the tutelage of her father. At age 8 she gave her first public performance and appeared on Armenian National Television.[2]

After emigrating with her family to the United States, Vardanyan studied with Antigoni Goni at the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School and went on to study guitar in high school at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. In college, she studied under Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Institute, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree in performance and was awarded the Harold Randolph Prize in 2008.[3] She then studied under Sharon Isbin at the Juilliard School, where she received her Master of Music degree in performance. Vardanyan lives and teaches in New York City.[1]

Career

[edit]

Gohar Vardanyan has performed throughout the United States and internationally, for numerous guitar societies, universities, and arts organizations, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, along with appearances on National Public Radio in the United States and LRA Radio Nacional in Argentina.

Vardanyan has performed with the Juilliard School Opera Center and as a soloist with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra and the Panama National Symphony Orchestra.

Matt Warnock of Guitar International Magazine said of her: "With a musicality and emotional quality in her playing that one would expect from someone much older than the young wunderkind, Vardanyan is the complete package. Not only is she able to draw you into her performances with engaging musical interpretations, but she has the technical facility that is required of any concert level guitarist."[4]

As part of her teaching activity, Vardanyan has published a number of books on guitar technique as well as an extensive list of instructional guitar videos (see below).
