The Halbek device is a Rhodesian designed and patented clamp-on muzzle brake. It was patented in Rhodesia in 1978 and in the United States in 1980 by Marthinus Bekker and Douglas Hall. The device was designed for use on the FN FAL and worked to expel muzzle gasses upwards, which was intended to greatly reduce the effects of recoil experienced by the user.[1][2].

The device was intended for use during the Rhodesian Bush War, but it is not known what number were produced and fielded by the Rhodesian military [3]
