Hilton Waikoloa Village

Hilton Waikoloa Village is a 62 acre resort on the big island of hawaii. The hotel features three towers, Lagoon tower, Palace tower, and (Now owned by Hilton Grand Vacations Club) Ocean tower. The hotel opened with a lagoon and three pools.

History

Hilton Waikoloa Village opened in September 1988 under the name Hyatt Regency Waikoloa. It was the largest hotel with 1,240 rooms and the biggest, costing 360$ million to build with help from Japanese investors.[1]

It opened with the following restaurants: Kamuela Provision Company, Orchid Cafe, Kimo Bean Coffee Bar, Hang Ten Beach Bar, IMARI, Donatonis, The Second Floor Lounge and Palm Terrace Restaurant.[2]

Due to Financial struggles, The resort was sold to Hilton in 1994.

In the early 2000s, Orchid cafe was renamed to Orchid Marketplace. The restaurants Boat Landing Cantina, Malolol Lounge and Kirin Chinese Restaurant was added. Palm Terrace Restaurant was renamed to Breakfast at Waters Edge and was moved to the Waters Edge Ballroom. Kimo Bean Coffee Bar was renamed to Waikoloa Coffee Company. Kohala pool bar and Kona pool bar was added.[3]

In 2014, The Hotel held an auction to sell of most of their museum art.[4]

In 2016, Kirin Chinese restaurant left.

In 2017, IMARI restaurant left and Malolol Lounge was renamed to Kona Tap Room.

In 2018, Kohala pool bar left.

In 2019, The third tower aka Ocean Tower was sold to Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Donatonis was replaced with Nui Italian.

By the time Hilton Waikoloa Village reopened after covid, The only on site restaurants were Nui Italian and Kamuela Provision Company, for only breakfast and dinner. Because of this, hot food wasn't available on property for multiple hours a day.

Since then, They reopened breakfast at waters edge, Lagoon Grill, Orchid Market Place, Kona Tap Room, Kona and Kohala pool bar.
