Mehmet Kalyoncu (April 10, 1992, Gaziantep) is a Turkish architect, businessman, composer and civil society volunteer. He is the founder of the Turkey Design Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors at Kalyon Holding, a member of the Board of Directors at İGA Istanbul Airport, and a member of the Board of Directors at the Real Estate Investment Trust Association (GYODER).

He was born in Gaziantep in 1992 and is originally from Trabzon. He completed his high school education at Ümraniye Anatolian High School. In the last year of his high school education, he participated in the academic program organized by St. Hugh's College, Oxford University. Graduating from the Istanbul Technical University Department of Architecture in 2014, Kalyoncu studied at the Architectural Association as a visiting student.

While managing his education and responsibilities in civil society organizations, Kalyoncu also completed internships in architectural offices and construction companies. After completing university, he took on various roles in Kalyon Holding's subsidiaries. Mehmet Kalyoncu completed negotiation at Harvard University, entrepreneurship at Babson College, and corporate diplomacy at Tufts University in 2014 while continuing his professional life.

With a design-oriented approach, aiming to contribute to the social and economic development of Turkey, Kalyoncu founded the Turkey Design Foundation in 2016 to support the development of young designers and create a platform for the production of high-quality designs. Mehmet Kalyoncu served as a member of the Executive Committee of Istanbul Airport between 2015 and 2022. Since September 2022, he has continued his role as a member of the Board of Directors at İGA Istanbul Airport.[1]

Mehmet Kalyoncu served as the chairman of the Real Estate Investors Association (GYODER) between 2020 and 2023. [2] As of November 2023, he handed over the chairmanship of the association to Neşecan Çekici, the first female chairman of GYODER, in order to focus on design and planning activities in earthquake-prone areas with the Turkey Design Foundation. Kalyoncu continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors at GYODER. [3] [4]

In addition to his professional life, Mehmet Kalyoncu started his interest in music at the Üsküdar Musical Society at the age of 9. He later received a certificate in piano from the London School of Music. With 11 compositions to his name, Kalyoncu performed his composition "Emanet", which he prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, at the gala held at Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Hall.[5] Kalyoncu was accompanied by the Istanbul Film Music Orchestra, conducted by conductor Kerem Esemen, in the performance of the composition, which was arranged by Esin Aydıngöz. Alongside his business life, Mehmet Kalyoncu has been actively involved in non-governmental organizations since his university years. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Gaziantep Education and Service Foundation, the founding foundation of Hasan Kalyoncu University, and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Turkey Design Foundation and GYODER.[7]
