Richard White is an Australian entrepreneur recognized for founding WiseTech Global ASX: WTC,[1] a technology company specializing in logistics software.[2] As of 2024, WiseTech Global holds the largest market capitalization of any information technology company on the ASX.[3][4][5]
White was ranked as Australia's 11th wealthiest individual. He was the highest-earning CEO in the country until he stepped down amid allegations of sexual and corporate misconduct in October 2024.[6] [7][8]
Early Life and education
[edit]White was born in Sydney, Australia, and completed a Master of Business in Information Technology Management at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). In 2008, UTS recognized White with an Alumni Award for professional achievement.[9]
Career
[edit]A roadie for AC/DC in the 1970s,[6] White started his career in the technology industry in the 1980s as an R&D manager for Jands, a company specializing in audio, lighting, and staging technology, gaining experience in technology solutions across sectors.[10]
In 1994, White founded WiseTech Global, initially named Real Tech Systems Integration. WiseTech’s primary product, CargoWise, has become widely adopted in the logistics industry.[11] WiseTech went public on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in 2016, and White led the company’s expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions.[1][12]
In October 2024, White stepped down as CEO of WiseTech and moved into an advisory role, as Founder and Founding CEO.[13][14] He continues to be a prominent shareholder and remains actively involved in company affairs.[15]
Personal life and philanthropy
[edit]White has pursued sustainability initiatives, which include the construction of a self-powered residence in Sydney.[16] He is also engaged in advocacy for the Australian technology sector, holding a board position at the Tech Council of Australia.[2]
