- Comment: I'm sure this is a pleasant and generous young man, but he is clearly not notable, as Wikipedia defines notability. The sum of the information about him is as follows: He has notable relatives (that does not make him notable), he has self-published a number of books (which does not make him notable), he has had minor roles in a few TV shows (not something that makes him notable), he has donated to charitable causes, and he has a website. Neither of which is a criterion for notability. There isn't one single source in this draft that is reliable, independent, and talks about Vinyak Singh Oberoi. All reliable sources are about other topics, and the sources mentioning him are all non-independent and/or not reliable. bonadea contributions talk 11:13, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

This innovation was essential for defense applications, and by shifting production to Indian soil, the company saved the nation valuable foreign exchange, amounting to ₹1 crore annually. This move significantly [14]reduced India's dependency on imports and demonstrated the company's ability to produce complex chemicals domestically. In addition, under Dhar's leadership, the company manufactured basic dyes such as Methylene Blue, Methyl Violet, Auramine, and Malachite Green, using indigenous plants and equipment. This commitment to self-reliant industrial processes was further evidenced by their production of Dimethyl Phthalate, another critical chemical for defense applications. The company's achievements in the chemical sector were recognized by Professor Humayun Kabir, then Union Minister for Petroleum and Chemical Industries, who visited the factory to commend the rapid progress and the substantial contribution to saving foreign exchange. Public Criticism
[edit]Oberoi has faced significant criticism regarding the supernatural events he describes in his autobiography, Eighteen.[15]Many sceptics argue that the paranormal activities he claims to have encountered, such as objects inexplicably flying around his home, are fabricated or exaggerated.[16] Critics contend that such extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, which they believe Oberoi fails to provide.[17]
In Eighteen, Oberoi recounts a series of unsettling occurrences, including the appearance of cat hair and human hair materialising from nowhere.[18]He attributes these phenomena to supernatural forces, suggesting a chaotic environment influenced by unseen entities. However, detractors argue that these experiences could be attributed to psychological factors or environmental explanations rather than genuine paranormal activity.[19]
Furthermore, Oberoi discusses witchcraft allegedly practiced by a family member against his own family. This claim adds a layer of complexity to his narrative, but it has also led to skepticism. Critics question the validity of such assertions, suggesting that they may stem from cultural beliefs or personal fears rather than actual experiences.[20]
Witnesses to these events, as mentioned in his book, include Oberoi himself, his parents, and a few other family members. While their testimonies lend some credibility to his claims, critics argue that anecdotal evidence is insufficient to substantiate the extraordinary nature of the events described.[21]
Philanthropy
[edit]Oberoi has donated about 1,000 food packets including, milk and eggs to children and stray dogs, particularly supporting the Thaagam Foundation[22] and other foundations in 2024 for stray dog welfare and child nutrition. He has also extended his support to flood-affected regions in Africa and contributed to drug rehabilitation centers. Like, The Baruipur Wake-up Drug Rehabilitation Center.[23] Additionally, Vinayak has also supported and worked for for girls' education, actively donating to initiatives that empower young women through education.[24]
He received the Young Philanthropist Award 2024 by Universal Charity and leadership Society, Gujrat.[25][26]
Media and Acting
[edit]Oberoi enrolled in acting classes, during early 2017, Bioscope Vedas Creation. He was featured on the Television on following shows.
- Jai Kali Kalkattawali (1 and Half Episodes, 2017)[27][28] on Star Jalsha
- ABP Ananda- High School E Bajimat (Commercial Advertisement, 2017) with Mir Afsar Ali[29]
- Dubbing Artist for Karmaphal Daata Shani- Bengali Dubbed Version which aired on Colours Bangla TV, as one of the Ashwini Putras[30]
- Short Film- The Lottery by The Bioscope Vedas Creation[31][32]
Oberoi is also the great grand-nephew of Indian Film Producer, Birendranath Sircar.[33]Sircar received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in Indian cinema give by Government of India in 1970, and in 1972 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, by Government of India. He is the founder of New Theatres Kolkata.[34]
Entrepreneurship
[edit]Gypsievan was an entertainment website founded by Vinayak Singh Oberoi and launched on January 9, 2020.[35] The platform featured a wide variety of content including music from popular artists such as Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift, as well as jokes, memes, photos, and videos.[36] It also had an educational corner where Vinayak himself would write and upload educational content. Additionally, Gypsievan served as a social media website, allowing users to interact and share content.[37]
In December 2020, the website was hacked by a group of individuals from Bangladesh. After extensive efforts to recover the site, it was relaunched in late 2021 with a new domain, changing from gypsievan.com to gypsievan.in[38] Unfortunately, the website faced another hacking incident by the same group in March 2023, who also started impersonating Vinayak on social media platforms. Before it was hacked, Gypsievan generated a revenue of INR 2 Lakhs. After taking severe measures to counter these attacks, Vinayak ultimately decided to shut down the website permanently on May 11, 2024.[39]
