Problem with getting PDFs to load
I had this problem with two different books, one I created and one I found in the Books: space. The file generates, and then the PDF reader returns an error message saying the file is damaged and could not be repaired. I tried downloading both books under a variety of hardware and software configurations and was met with the same results. All I could learn from the help files is that it may be an issue with an individual article or articles. So, I download the individual articles in PDF format, and they load just fine or with a minimum of problems. Any further hints on what I can do, or should I expect to just keep pouring through everything trying to figure it out myself?RadioKAOS (talk) 14:56, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, that would help, right? My connection is sometimes slow, so I haven't had opportunity to check things out again. The first time I noticed was with Book:The Professional Wrestling Almanac, 2009. Message was left on the talk page September 25, 2010. I guess that means no one reads it, since the problem persisted when I tried again later. Second time was with a user book I created, User:RadioKAOS/Books/AKHistory. Same error message. I haven't had much luck with figuring it out beyond possibly the inclusion of forbidden templates or similar.RadioKAOS (talk) 13:09, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- I just tried (Book:The Professional Wrestling Almanac, 2009) and it downloaded / displayed just fine. Perhaps the problem lies with your PDF reader? Or maybe try again? Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 18:50, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- I tried it before under so many different hardware/software/networking configurations it just wasn't funny. Just now, I disabled the PDF reader add-on in the browser, and it made better process in downloading, but the file was still coming up damaged. Finally, I downloaded, installed and ran a junk cleaner and now everything is fine. In the immortal words of Allan Sherman, "kindly disregard this letter."RadioKAOS (talk) 12:15, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- I also get a persistent PDF damaged report on "Ancient Anomalies". Running CCleaner did not help.
No downloadable format but PDF?
Could Wikipedia consider adding any downloadable format other than PDF please? I prefer PRC or MOBI. I want to read some books in Kindle but Kindle can't handle PDF well.--115.76.173.120 (talk) 02:45, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
