The Hobart Devils (also known as Hobart Tassie Devils) are a defunct professional basketball team that competed in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL).

History

[edit]

The Hobart Devils debuted in the National Basketball League (NBL) in the 1983 season. The team played their home games at Kingborough Sports Centre from 1983 to 1988[1] before moving to the Derwent Entertainment Centre in 1989, where they stayed until folding in 1996.[2]

During Devils home games, the home court arena was often referred to as the "Devils Den" by local TV commentators. They club was known as Hobart Tassie Devils from 1987 to 1995, but reverted to Hobart Devils in its final season.[3] The Devils' most successful season was in 1987 when they recorded 14 wins.
