Human Design
Human Design is a new age practice, described as a holistic self-knowledge system.[1] It combines astrology, the Chinese I Ching, Judaic Kabbalah, Vedic philosophy and modern physics.[2][3][4][5]
Origins and purpose[edit]
Human Design was originated by Alan Robert Krakower, who published a book called The Human Design System under the pseudonym Ra Uru Hu in 1992.[6][7] Krakower developed the Human Design system following a mystical experience in 1987.[8][9][10][11][12][13]
It purports to be a self-knowledge method which does not have any specific religious dogma or affiliation.[14] However, it has been described by theologian J. R. Hustwit as a "transreligious project" that is "breathtaking in scope" and synthesizes seven or more traditions.[15] It has also been described as a psychological counseling instrument[16] and "a comprehensive and personalized map of your unique energy and life blueprint, guiding you towards self-awareness, personal growth, and empowerment."[17][18] It claims to facilitate "deep access to bodily, generational and inter-dimensional intelligence."[19]
Elements of Human Design[edit]
Human Design centers around the division of personalities into five energy types, also known as auras, that require different strategies in order to harmoniously interact with the world. The five types are: Manifestors, Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors. Each type has its unique strategy, an attribute that manifests its true self, and an attribute that manifests its false self. Human Design focuses specifically on this aura dynamic lens, revealing 'self' and 'not self' themes that affect life outcomes.[20]
Human Design also maps nine possible energy centers in the body. A personal map reveals which of these are "defined", meaning that they are constant and reliable sources of authority throughout life. Analysis of aura type together with the authority centers provides a broad overview of an individual's worldly and cosmic interface.
In Human Design analysis, planets are displayed in a type of horoscope called a bodygraph. The bodygraph shows the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching at various locations on the body. It is sometimes shown within a mandala, overlaid on the 12 signs of the zodiac.[citation needed]
