Ijede Spring Water
Ijede Spring water [1]also known as (Odoro Water Spring in Yoruba) is a natural spring water located in the Ijede community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos discovered by the elder Baba Odoro during a severe drought. Historically, The spring is believed to be a divine gift, has provided pure, healing water to the community for generations.[2]
Description
[edit]The stream is maintained by the community, is situated adjacent to the beach, and flows directly into the Lagos lagoon. The attraction is listed as a gazetted tourism site and one of three designated sites in the Ikorodu Division by the Lagos State Government.[2][3]
The inaugural edition of the event took place in 2021 and was attended by thousands of tourists; however, there has been growing concern about the tourist site neglect, and the restoration requires immediate attention from the government.[4] Despite its potential as a major tourist attraction, the Odoro Beach has fallen into a state of neglect. Concerns have been raised by local residents, tourists, and conservationists regarding the lack of maintenance and upkeep of the site.[3]
