James Wilson (born 6 March 2007) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian.[3]
Club career
[edit]He signed a first professional contract with Heart of Midlothian in the summer of 2023.[4] He broke through into first-team during the 2023-24 season, making three appearances as a substitute, whilst also playing for the Hearts B team in the Lowland League.[5] He made his professional debut in the Scottish Cup in a 2-1 away win against The Spartans on 20 January 2024 as a 16 year-old.[4][6][7] He then made his debut in the Scottish Premiership against Dundee in May 2024.[8]
He scored his first league goal for Hearts in October 2024, in a 4-0 win over St Mirren.[9] The following week he made headlines with a late equaliser in the Edinburgh derby against Hibernian, which finished 1-1 on 27 October 2024.[10][11]
On 19 December 2024, in a game against Petrocub Hîncești, Wilson became the youngest goal scorer for Hearts in European competition and the youngest goal scorer in the UEFA Conference League.[12] He was 17 years and 288 days old.[13] Wilson subsequently signed a contract extension until summer 2026.[14]
