Jon Robert Cart (born 1964) is an American flautist and piccoloist. He is a professor of music at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University.[1]
Early life
[edit]Cart was raised in Deputy, Indiana. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in performance from DePauw University, a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland.
Professional work
[edit]He has performed with Philadelphia’s Network for New Music,[2] at the Atlantic Music Festival,[3] and as a solo recitalist at the Kennedy Center,[4] Carnegie Hall,[5] and in China.[6] Cart is the founding flutist of the Éxi Chéria chamber ensemble.[7] He is the executive director of the Marcel Moyse Society.[8]
Cart was previously the dean of the College of Fine and Performing Arts at Rowan University[9] and the director of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. He currently teaches an introductory music course and flute performance.[10]
Cart plays a Powell Flutes.[11]
