Marion McCarthy is a former camogie player whose positions ranged all over the field from defence, centre field, forward and goalkeeper when she was active for South Presentation Past Pupils Camogie Club (South Presentation PP), and a former winner of a B+I of the Year award.[1] and All Ireland Senior Club Championship medals in 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1983 and a winner also of camogie medals later as a player in ’84, ’86 and ’91. She is possibly unique in camogie history for winning camogie medals as an outfield player where she was in defence, centre field and forward and, then, after 1980, she took to the task of goalkeeper.[citation needed] From Ballinhassig in Cork, she was selected as her club's player of the year in 1980.
