List of NGC objects (1001–2000)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from NGC 1619)

This is a list of NGC objects 1001–2000 from the New General Catalogue (NGC). The astronomical catalogue is composed mainly of star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Other objects in the catalogue can be found in the other subpages of the list of NGC objects.

The constellation information in these tables is taken from The Complete New General Catalogue and Index Catalogue of Nebulae and Star Clusters by J. L. E. Dreyer,[1] which was accessed using the "VizieR Service".[2] Galaxy morphological types and objects that are members of the Large Magellanic Cloud are identified using the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database.[3] The other data of these tables are from Wolfgang Steinicke's Revised New General Catalogue and Index Catalogue[4] and/or the SIMBAD Astronomical Database[5] unless otherwise stated.

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ May actually be UGC 2119 (02h 37m 58.7s, −01° 50′ 39″)[6] or IC 243 (02h 38m 32.2s, −06° 54′ 07″)[7]
  2. ^ Thought to be an open cluster Gaia data shows stars in the area are unrelated[8]
  3. ^ Originally this NGC object did not actually exist, but in 1982 its designation was given to ESO 358-40 (03h 37m 46.996s, −36° 08′ 50.75″)[9]
  4. ^ a b NGC 1516 refers to the galaxy pair NGC 1524 and NGC 1525
  5. ^ a b According to NED, NGC 1915 may also be named NGC 1919.
  6. ^ SIMBAD lists this as a cluster of stars.
  7. ^ According to NED, NGC 1920 may also be NGC 1911.
  8. ^ SIMBAD lists this as an "object of unknown nature".
  9. ^ a b SIMBAD lists this as a stellar association.
  10. ^ SIMBAD lists this as the star GSC 08890-00548.
  11. ^ a b SIMBAD lists this as "interstellar matter".
