Parineetii (transl. Destiny) is an Indian Hindi-language television drama series that premiered on 14 February 2022 on Colors TV. It digitally streams on JioCinema. Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, it stars Anchal Sahu, Tanvi Dogra, and Ankur Verma.

Plot

Parineet Kakkar and Neeti Juneja are two best friends who together are known as Parineeti. Rajeev Bajwa is a fun-loving, selfish person. Initially in the story, Pari, Neeti and Rajeev cross paths with Rakesh, the main villain of the story who is also madly in love with Pari, having one-sided love with her. After seeing Neeti, Rajeev immediately falls in love with her. Hence, he rejects Pari, the girl who his mother recommends for him. However, upon meeting Rajeev, Pari immediately falls in love with him. After a series of events leading to some unpleasant circumstances in Pari’s wedding with Varun, Rajeev reluctantly marries Pari. Nonetheless, Rajeev and his mother were portrayed to be extremely selfish and Pari was oblivious to this. Gurinder wanted to become the biggest landholder in the village, so she demands land from Pari's father as dowry. Rajeev had married Pari so his mom could become a big landholder. Some time later, he moves to Chandigarh, leaving Pari in the Kakkar house so that he doesn't have to live with her any longer.

Rajeev is still in Chandigarh with his aunt and cousins. He uses his nickname Sanju to create a fake identity. Neeti is completing her Air Hostess course in Chandigarh as well while Pari is still in the Kakkar house. Jaswanth, Pari's father, dies. After this incident, Pari, seeking Rajeev, arrives in Chandigarh. Pari unexpectedly runs into Neeti there and stays with her. Rajeev proposes to Neeti and she accepts his proposal, oblivious to the fact that Rajeev is actually Pari's husband. Afterwards, Rajeev and Neeti decide to marry. Rajeev ends up marrying Neeti but does not inform Pari.

Later, Pari starts suspecting Rajeev of having an affair. Neeti suggests that Pari should spy on Rajeev to find out his true intentions. Rakesh also arrives in Chandigarh to separate Rajeev and Pari. However, he and his goons accidentally kidnap Neeti. Although she is able to escape, she meets with an accident and Pari then takes her to a hospital. There, she is eventually able to figure out that Sanju and Rajeev are the same person. Pari gets extremely furious with Sanju as he married her with wrong intentions, and now cheated on her with another girl. While Pari starts hating Sanju, Sanju's grandmother arrives and wishes to see Pari and Rajeev's wedding in person. On the wedding day, Pari reveals Rajeev's double truth to everyone.

Later on, Pari discovers that Neeti is pregnant with Rajeev's child. Wishing well for her friend, she requests the Bajwa family to accept Neeti. Then, Rajeev, feeling guilty, tries to apologize to Pari, but she rejects his apology. Soon, Neeti suffers a miscarriage due to an unfortunate accident and finds out that she can never become a mother again. Upon knowing this, Pari decides to become her and Sanju's surrogate mother and continues to reside in the Bajwa house.

After being the surrogate mother for a while, Rakesh eventually comes back into Pari's life. In a different event, Neeti observes Pari and Sanju’s behavior together and thinks Pari wishes to snatch Sanju away from her. In actuality, Bebe, the elder of the house who seeks revenge from the Bajwa family poisons Neeti's mind aganist Pari and mentally forces her to ruin everyone's life. Neeti starts to hate Pari as she continues seeing her with Sanju. However, in reality, Pari never wished ill or had bad intentions for Neeti. She never wanted to intervene within her married life, but merely wanted to help Neeti become a mother. Sanju, who was very guilty of what he did to Pari and also knowing that she's pregnant simply wished to take care of her. Nonetheless, Neeti saw this in the wrong way, thanks to Bebe. Later, Neeti wishes to abort the child that was growing in Pari's womb and she believes that doing so will make Pari and Rajeev grow apart. She and Bebe together form multiple plans to try killing the baby, but alas, fail, though their true faces aren't able to come out. In this process, Neeti gets very hurt internally and completely loses her whole original identity. Due to the change in her behavior, Pari and Sanju grow closer.

Unexpectedly, Neeti comes across Rakesh and finds out that he is still obsessed with Pari. Thus, Neeti and Rakesh form a deal to get Pari out of the Bajwa house by having Rakesh marry her. Neeti and Bebe make a fake DNA report to prove that Rakesh is the father of the child growing in Pari's womb. Pari is humiliated for lying to the family, however some are still reluctant in believing that Pari could do such a thing. Nonetheless, Pari agrees to marry Rakesh as she thinks doing so would be better for everyone. However, Rajeev is heavily aganist this marriage.

Rajeev does everything he can to stop the wedding, but is unsuccessful. On the wedding day, however, Rajeev succeeds in stopping the wedding after a series of events unfold. Rakesh's truth is revealed as to how he tried to abort Pari's baby and how he isn't actually the father. Nonetheless, Neeti and Bebe's true face does not show. It is proven that the baby belongs to Neeti and Sanju as Sanju is able to provide the real DNA report.

Unable to leave Pari, Rakesh kidnaps her, but Pari is eventually saved by Sanju. Later on, Rajeev is accused of murdering Rakesh and gets jailed. In reality, Rakesh is alive but fakes his death to get Sanju out of his way. Pari is able to find out that Rakesh is indeed alive and proves Rajeev's innocence by bringing Rakesh alive to the court. Neeti gets very mad at Pari since she alone was able to prove that Rajeev was innocent and got all the credit for it. Neeti believed that Pari wanted to compete with her to get the family's full attention and love. Eventually, after also being heavily manipulated by Bebe, Neeti decides that she wants to kill Pari so that she could get all the love and affection she "deserves." Neeti tries to kill Pari in various ways, but fails as Sanju is able to save Pari everytime. Once, Neeti plans another accident to kill Pari, but Rajeev was able to save her once again and gets heavily injured himself. Neeti blames Pari for Sanju's condition and again tries to kill her but fails. Pari soon finds out about Neeti's wrongdoings and in a confrontation with her, is shattered to discover the change in her behavior.

Eventually, Neeti’s truth is exposed to the entire family. Even then, Rajeev tries to mend his relationship with her. He reveals to Neeti the real reason behind his marriage with Pari. However, Neeti files for divorce and they get divorced. Neeti regrets her decision and wants her Sanju back, but Rajeev has moved on and decides to marry Pari. Neeti tries to stop Pari and Rajeev’s wedding in various ways, but ends up failing. In the end, she falls in her own trap and nearly drowns. Daljeet and Rakesh plan to get Pari jailed by falsely accusing her of attempt to murder on Neeti. After the wedding rituals are complete, Pari is arrested.

In shocking chains of events, Neeti gives statement in Pari’s favor and bails her out. She has a confrontation with Rakesh and Rakesh vows to seek revenge. Daljeet gets kicked out of the house for plotting against Rajeev and Pari. It turns out that Neeti has lost her memory, that is why she is behaving differently. She does not remember anything after Pari’s original wedding day. She is under the impression that Rakesh caused her accident.

Due to Pari’s request, Neeti ends up staying in the Bajwa house. Pami is doubtful about Neeti and refuses to believe she has lost her memory. Chandrika is also wary of her, but everyone else in the family believes Neeti has lost her memory. Neeti is back to being the same carefree and jokester person that she used to be.

However, it is revealed that Neeti hasn’t lost her memory. She is planning her revenge against Pari and Pami. Her truth is revealed to Gurinder, so Neeti pushes her off the balcony. Gurinder survives but ends up in a coma. Neeti becomes engaged to Shelly, but Shelly turns antagonistic against Rajeev as he sees Neeti's love for him.

Neeti pretends to have gotten molested by Shelly to get out of the marriage. With Shelly finally out of her life, she starts plotting on how to win Rajeev over. She plans many attack on Pari, but Pari survives each time. On one such planned attack, she pushes Pari into a well, which causes Pari to miscarry.

Gurinder regains consciousness, but upon realizing that Pari miscarried, she sides with Neeti. Neeti uses IVF to impregnate herself with Rajeev’s child. Gurinder forces Rajeev to repay his debt as her son by marrying Neeti. Rajeev initially refuses, but Pari, worried about Neeti, makes Rajeev agree to the marriage. Pari and Rajeev end up divorcing, but Rajeev promises that the marriage with Neeti will only last until the baby is born.

Production

Development

The show was announced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms. It tells the story of two best friends who are married to the same man due to their destiny.

Casting

Anchal Sahu and Tanvi Dogra were cast as the leads Parineet and Neeti. Ankur Verma was cast as Rajeev. Dolly Sohi was cast as Pari's mother. Ashish Dixit who played Pari's brother quit the show in July 2022, due to some creative changes. In early October 2023, Rushal Parakh join the show as Daljeet.
