Etymology

[edit]

The original name of Pindsultani was "Pind Sultan", translating to "the village where kings live". Two significant historical accounts provide insight into the origination of its name. The first Muslim ruler to hold the title "Sultan", the famous conqueror Mehmood Ghaznavi, stayed at a mound known as "Dehri" during his journey through the region. Following his departure, the village came to be known as "Pind Sultan", subsequently transforming to "Pind Sultani". This account is corroborated by Zulfiqar Ali Khunjar, a notable poet from Attock, Elder members of the village recount stories of this area serving as a passageway for kings in ancient times. The kings reportedly used to rest at the "Dehri", observing the surrounding regions. Gradually, locals began referring to the village as "Pind Sultan", eventually evolving to the current name "Pindsultani.

Its area is about 44 km2 or 85949 Kanal.
