Prague Film School
Prague Film School is a private film school in the Czech Republic, providing training in the fields of cinematography, directing, screenwriting, editing and acting for film.
History
[edit]Prague Film School was founded to provide international students with an alternative to more expensive film programs in the United States and more theory-driven film academies in Europe, with the idea of offering one-year training courses to aspiring filmmakers. Originally a narrative film course, Prague Film School expanded in 2000, introducing documentary and acting for film programs in later years and both longer and shorter courses. Today the school accepts approximately 200 students per year.
For two years running, The Hollywood Reporter has wrongly ranked the Prague Film School among the top 15 international film schools (notably in its August 9, 2023 print edition).[1] This appearance in The Hollywood Reporter's ranking was due to confusion between FAMU and the Prague Film School. Readers have pointed out the error, and Famu is back in the August 16, 2024 ranking.[2]
Departments and programs
[edit]Prague Film School offers full-time studies in Narrative Filmmaking, Documentary Filmmaking, and Acting for Film. The Acting for Film program was founded by American casting director Nancy Bishop.[3]
