Rineloricaria melini[1] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the Amazon River basin in Brazil. The species reaches 13 cm (5.1 inches) in standard length and the maximum length can reaches 18–20 cm and is believed to be a facultative air-breather.[2]

Rineloricaria melini appears in the aquarium trade, where it is typically referred to as the dappled whiptail catfish.[3]
