Gossip

[edit]

This article is filled with journalistic gossip, and the fervent adoration on the part of Pius XII's housekeeper, the German nun Pasquelina. The list of possible candidates is particularly laughable, since France and Germany were about to go to war. Munich had already happened, as had the Anschluss in Austria and the annexation of the Sudetenland. Hitler was sending clergymen in Germany to concentration camps for their opposition to the Nazis. The article is completely lacking in context. The article has serious problems with balance in terms of POV. There are actual books on 20th century conclaves which should be consulted. This article is NOT a 'B'. --Vicedomino (talk) 22:46, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have added half a dozen books to a section "Sources" that can be used to correct the sketchy notions in the article. --Vicedomino (talk) 23:58, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pius' Objectives

[edit]

The third objective cannot contain just what Pius said to Tardini. It contains later speculation and rationalization, but the issue is, What is the source of that material?

I am amused, by the way, that the three objectives are treated seriously. Are they Tardini's way of settling a grudge against Pius? Was Pius making a joke at Tardini's expense? If I had been Pius, I would have listed (a) saving Europe from a general war; (2) saving Europe from the threat of Communism; (3) saving the Church from the grip of fascism in Germany, Italy, and Spain. --Vicedomino (talk) 00:42, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
