Thrashers/Jets

[edit]

I've placed a note in the content, pointing out that the Thrashers/Jets franchise has hosted the All Star Game. GoodDay (talk) 13:39, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Except the sentence is talking about teams. By adding the note you make it confusing for the reader. And its far too trivial a note to add to this page. -DJSasso (talk) 21:35, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We should revert to my previous edit of three franchises. None of the 4 sources provided, mention the Winnipeg Jets. GoodDay (talk) 22:11, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And none of the sources are talking about franchises. If you looked at the date of those sources it is because they are from before there was a Winnipeg team. Its not hard to figure out that a team that played for one year didn't host the all-star game. -DJSasso (talk) 22:33, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it should be shown, noted etc - that the Thrashers/Jets franchise has hosted the All-Star Game. I welcome the input of other editors. GoodDay (talk) 22:35, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a solution that will make nobody happy. :) Leave Winnipeg in the prose and add a note to clarify the situation. —C.Fred (talk) 22:52, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is actually what I reverted earlier. Its far too trivial for this page to have to point out such a minute detail in a minor sentence. -DJSasso (talk) 22:54, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed Fred, it's informative & more accurate to point out that Jets hosted the 56th All-Star Game, as the Thrashers. GoodDay (talk) 22:59, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But it isn't more accurate, its less accurate, as we are talking about the teams, not the franchises. On every hockey page when such mentions are made, we are always referring to the teams. Why would you want to make this singular page different than all the other pages? And have to add a note about a team that isn't even the team that is hosting the game this article is talking about. Especially silly when the article itself is only a couple sentences long to have to add such a note. -DJSasso (talk) 23:01, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not clear that the list of teams that haven't hosted the All-Star Game is sufficiently notable to include in this article. The discussion is probably best left to the All-Star Game article itself (where they talk about cities that have hosted the All-Star Game, something that is probably a more suitable item to track anyway). isaacl (talk) 23:49, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I had been thinking that myself. But since the article was so short I left it in. I'd be fine with removing completely. -DJSasso (talk) 23:51, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've no probs with deleting all of them, as it would remove the inaccuracy. GoodDay (talk) 23:54, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scoring summary table

[edit]

After I made this edit, I went thought all the exiting NHL all-star articles and found there is wide variety for different formats for the scoring summary table. The now-current one introduced by User:Gloss adds yet another new variety. Can there be some consistency here, like a modified version of {{icehockeybox}} or the style used on the Winter Classic or Stanley Cup Finals articles? Zzyzx11 (talk) 08:30, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is apparently a larger problem affecting all of the NHL articles, so I have opened up discussion at WT:HOCKEY#Lack of Icehockeybox or any consistency on NHL articles. Zzyzx11 (talk) 09:14, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just to note, I took the idea for the table I added here from the table on 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. I think that one serves a lot better as a data table and complies with a lot more table standards as listed at MOS:DTT. The table in the two previous ASG's has items floating on the side that were plugged in through the table's coding to look pretty, but it doesn't really serve well as a data table.
