Debates in Feb.2016 just prior to 'Early Voting"

[edit]

Getting interesting now. The table is great. -- AstroU (talk) 05:04, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Trump will be center-stage in all three February debates. After the voting in NH (today) it sounds like Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, and Bush will be debating. Saturday is coming quickly (tomorrow, it will be three days away) and the announcement will be out very soon. -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 04:32, 10 February 2016 (UTC) -- PS: Remember, delegates are divided proportionally until Florida votes on March 15th.[reply]

QUESTION: By rules, Dr Ben Carson should be included; BUT, where is the CBS announcement? Are they holding the announcement back for maximum suspense and surprise appearance at the last moment? Will people be surprised when Dr Carson walks 6th onto the debate stage? -- Just Asking, Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 15:44, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the invite and announcement came just the day before the debate. Thank God! [It's a prayer, not a swear.] -- AstroU (talk) 05:09, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know how to get video copies of all the Republican debates?? Carol shippy (talk) 13:24, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

They should appear in the Republican Party presidential debates and forums, 2016#External links section. JRSpriggs (talk) 09:41, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Feb 13th Debate and Christie's suspension after losing badly both IA and NH

[edit]

I filled in the schedule with O's under Governor Christie as ABC news and AP are reporting he suspended his campaign (somewhat less than nobly, saying he will "take a deep breath" instead of stating it clearly). I guess his adolescent way of not saying in absolute and rude terms that he quit is enough to keep fans hanging on and my edits have been bizarrely undone only partially, for the Feb 13th debate which, in particular, Christie fared so poorly in NH that he doesn't even rise to the level of qualifying for the TV debate. Rather than engage now in a war of undoing other editors' undoing of my edit, I will just leave it to someone else to put the work in redoing my edits as Christie failure becomes embarrassingly clear to his fan-base. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.35.22.135 (talk) 06:31, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

With so many candidates, not being invited to the debate has its winnowing effect.

[edit]

A major aspect of this WP article is to describe why candidates 'withdraw' or 'suspend' and it is not all about the campaign finance money. Just as important is being not popular in polling and voting. Hence, the debate invites (not being invited) winnows the field. Some leave a little bitter, like Carli Fiorina. Some leave with relief, like Huckabee. At any rate, this is a major factor (not being invited to the next debate) and could be explained in the article somewhere along the way, either now or after July 2016. -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 11:00, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The map needs updating

[edit]

As of today, the map does not have the March 21st debate in SLC, even though it has been added to the table. There will probably be a 14th debate in NYC. -- AstroU (talk) 06:08, 23 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The map has the Salt Lake City (University of Utah) debate listed, but now Donald Trump says he is glad the debates are over, answering the same questions over and over. With the negative anti-Trump rants of 'Mitt' Romney, it is no wonder he does not want to be in SLC. Often the leader thinks debating needs to be over. Trump says he didn't know about the SLC debate March 21, but organizers say that all four campaigns know. It will be a miracle if Trump show up. On the other hand ... Trump may not want to debate in NYC either.[1] -- Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 00:01, 12 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
